Current Goal

Gerald is a very sociable giraffe, an all-around likeable guy! (He prefers to stay out of caches as most are too restrictive for him.) Instead, Gerald enjoys attending events and greeting cachers from coast to coast. He stays with host families sometimes for months at a time and thats O.K. We enjoy hearing all about the friendly people he's met and the types of events he's attended.

About This Item

Gerald the Event Giraffe

Gerald is an American Folk Art piece made of scrap metal, nuts, and bolts.

He is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, has a very long neck and legs and is the tallest of all land-living animal species. Giraffes also have the longest tail of any land mammal, up to eight feet long.

Giraffes play an unique role in the ecosystem by consuming leaves too high for use by most animals and by sometimes serving as an early "early warning" system for nearby animals regarding the presence of a predator. Don't you wish you can bring one along to help you keep an eye out for muggles!
