In the spirit of Jack Kerouac’s travels in “On the Road,” this TB will move across the country solely by car and train (no trips to the airport for this guy).
The goal is for this TB to make his way back and forth across this great country of ours – detours into Mexico are also grand. Stops in the destinations outlined in “On the Road” are highly encouraged, and I’d love to see pictures of this guy at a few specific sites:
1) City Lights Bookstore in SF, CA
2) The Bixby Canyon Bridge (Big Sur)
3) Ferlinghetti’s cabin (Big Sur – location of Kerouac’s novel “Big Sur”)
4) Lowell, Ma (birthplace)
5) Kerouac’s grave in Lowell, Ma
6) Columbia University (where Kerouac met Ginsberg, Burroughs, et al)
7) Ozone Park Queens NY (where Kerouac lived with his mother)
“…the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace thing, but burn, burn, burn, like fabulous yellow roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue centerlight pop and everybody goes "Awww!”
please limit this bug's travel to cars and trains (no airplanes, please)!!
