SQUEEKY the Hitch Hiker

Hi, I'm SQUEEKY the Hitch Hiker. Ripley the Cairn Terrier found me on New Year's Day, 2002, in the Child's Play cache in Northern Virginia outside Washington, D.C. I started my travels in Rochester, NY, had come directly to Virginia from a cache in New Jersey, and I had a small tag on saying I was a hitch hiker originally released by Yard Boy. Ripley's family turned me into an official Travel Bug, took me south, and placed me in the Veterans Treasure Trove cache in a Pinellas County park in Florida. So I've traveled pretty far along the eastern seaboard, and hope you'll help me continue my journey. My originator, Yard Boy, has asked that you let him know by e-mail where I am. His address is on my tag.

This is Ripley the Cairn Terrier, the originator of this Travel Bug in his present form. It's clear from the logs of the Christmas Cow cache that Squeeky is MISSING from this cache. We are therefore executing this virtual removal so that folks don't go looking for him there. We hope that whoever took Squeeky will soon log him back into the system. Thanks!

  • Green Beret Squeeky the Hitch Hiker made friends on his trip from Florida. Trekking Jim and Maryan Beary shared adventures with Squeeky in North Carolina. They visited Fort Bragg and took a few pics with Bruce the Green Beret and Dick Meadows of Vietnam Special Operations fame.
  • Meadows Squeeky, Trekking Jim and Maryan Beary admiring the statue of Dick Meadows in front of the Army Special Operations Command.
  • Lake Rim Fire Department, Station 11 Tony is a firefighter with the Lake Rim Fire Department in Cumberland County, NC. Squeeky, Trekking Jim and Maryan Beary visited the station and admired the Fire Engines.
  • Bye to Maryan Beary Trekking Jim and Squeeky the Hitch Hiker say goodbye to Maryan Beary and wish her a safe and exciting journey as they inspect her temporary home in the NC PSU Fan cache.
  • Squeeky and Trekking Jim Squeeky and Trekking Jim look across Lake Rim and decide where they should go next.
  • Squeeky at Christmas Cow Squeeky the Hitch Hiker says so long to his pal Trekking Jim at the Christmas Cow. They are going to miss each other, but maybe some day there paths shall cross again. They have shared some great times, but realize that it is time to seek new adventures.

I accidently logged the wrong travel bug in this cache, so this entry is just to fix the mistake and place squeeky in the right cache.

This travel bug took me 2 days to find, but I was determined to find it. I plan on taking Squeeky the hitch hiker to North Carolina and releasing it there in the next week or two.
