About This Item

To have a Geocoin for "Old Timers" in a sport as young as Geocaching is a bit of a misnomer.  I'm not very old, but all of my children are still older than the sport of geocaching is.

Fortunately I also explore caves and they have lots of "Old Timers", because that is an old sport, it is older than even written history.  Organized caving started in the United States with the founding of the National Speleological Society (NSS) in 1941.  A few years later in 1950 a group of these cavers got together in West Virginia and started having a huge party every year on Labor Day Weekend and called it the "Old Timers Reunion" or "OTR" and as they say "the rest is history".  Today the Old Timers Reunion is the largest gathering of cave explorers anywhere in the world.  If you are a caver and you have attended one you know what you want to do every Labor Day Weekend from now on.
