Retrieve It from a Cache 2/24/2005 Troop 499 retrieved it from May Creek Trestle Washington   Visit Log

Picked up travel bug & will show to the scouts of Troop 499 at our next meeting. We started our own travel bug, May Creek Trestle Trek, with the goal to also travel to England to visit the site of the 1st scout camp (after Baden-Powell officially founded the Boy Scouts) near Newcastle on the Tyne.
We will place the travel bug in a cache sometime next week.

We are delighted to log this bug, because all of our children are Scouts. Looking at previous logs, it appears that some of the things that have traveled with this bug in the past are missing, but the OA slide is still there. We will take a photo of it with the council patch on our son's uniform before placing it in another worthy cache.

Noting that On My Honor #2 is heading toward England, figured the best plan is to get the bug close to an international airport and hope someone is heading over the ocean.

My appolgies to chindii for keeping this in hand for so long.

Someone added a local council BSA patch to the ziplock that the TB was in, so I added something else.

I found the Cuyahoga Lodge #17 Order of the Arrow (OA) Neckerchief Slide at Farragut State Park while doing some treasure hunting with a metal detector. I assume it could have been lost during one of these events: the World Boy Scout Jamboree in 1967 or the National Boy Scout Jamborees of 1969 and 1973.

When I was in scouting (a long long time ago), I used to collect patches and other items. I hope that others continue to add scouting items to the list of items traveling with the TB for the ultimate enjoyment of the final finder.

We were showing daughter Starlite1's beau different geocaching styles/types and chose this because it was new to us and had the travel bug. Thanks for the adventure.
