"Bart" travels the Bay Area Ridge Trail clockwise; visiting every park with a segment of the Ridge Trail in it (where Geocaching is allowed, which is determined by the managing agency of that park).
Bart (this Travel Bug) started in Almaden Quicksilver County Park, in San Jose, CA 10/23/10, & is racing ‘the Councilor” (another travel bug) around the entire 550+ mile route, back to the start. Bart may not mind stopping at the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council office while traveling though.
The Bay Area Ridge Trail is a proposed 550+ mile hiking & ridging trail along the ridgelines and hilltops circling San Francisco Bay. There are currently more than 330 miles of Ridge Trail open to the public, and preserved for future generations. When complete, the Ridge Trail will connect more than 70 parks and open spaces.
The Bay Area Ridge Trail Council is the non-profit working to plan, acquire, design, build, care for, and promote the Ridge Trail. The Council works in close partnership with agencies and local government, parks, land trusts, and other stakeholders and volunteers to complete the vision of a continuous trail around the Bay Area, for hikers, cyclists and equestrians.
