Goodbye Canadian Key, it’s time to let you go. I’ve dropped you at another London event. This one is in the historic The George Inn, the only surviving galleried coaching inn left in London. A pub has existed on the site since medieval times and was situated next door to an inn where Chaucer set The Canterbury Tales. In 1677, it was rebuilt after a serious fire destroyed most of Southwark. Good luck! 🔑

Very busy at work at the moment but I ran out early to get to an event near Fleet Street, London. It was by the statue of Hodge, the cat of Samuel Johnson (1709 - 1784). Dr Johnson, was an English writer who made lasting contributions as a poet, playwright, essayist, moralist, literary critic, sermonist, biographer, editor, and lexicographer. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography calls him "arguably the most distinguished man of letters in English history". Johnson's loved his cat which was different from the usual views held by others of the eighteenth century. 😾

Another day, another event in London. I thought this event was in Hammersmith (not far from my home) as per the dot on the map but it turns out the coordinates were out …… by a kilometre…… and it was in Kensington. 🍁

Someone’s birthday geocaching trip today. We went to Peppard Common in the Chiltern Hills for some caches and a lovely lunch and then moved onto Henley-on-Thames. Henley is a world-renowned centre for rowing. Each summer the Henley Royal Regatta is held on Henley Reach, a naturally straight stretch of the river just north of the town. 🎂

You joined a little team and headed to Sidcup, south-east London, for a run of challenge caches in the area. I can’t tell you anything much interesting about the area but it was where Rob Knox, an actor in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, was murdered after he intervened in a fight. 🪄

أهلا بكم في عمان Welcome to Oman. You had a relaxing flight after the plane had to return to the gate in Manila which resulted in less time to spend in the lounge in Muscat. A quick recharge and it was back onto the next flight. 🇴🇲

Maligayang pagdating sa Pilipinas. Welcome to the Philippines. You’ve flown into Manila which is technically my home city since this is where Mr Wombat is working. Metro Manila is home to 13.5 million people is is actually composed of sixteen independent cities, of which you are staying in Pasig City. The normal problem with Manila is that the geocaching is poor and I’ve already found all the caches that are actually there. The problem with this visit is that it is sooooooo hot as South East Asia is being hit by a heat wave. 38C but they measure with a ‘feels like’ heat index here and that’s 54. You are staying here for a bit more than a week but not moving far from my aircon and pool. 🇵🇭
