ONLY WHEN IT HAS CIRCLED THE GLOBE CAN IT COME HOME - TO BEXHILL-ON-SEA IN SUSSEX, UK.
Have you ever read Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels? They are brilliant, hilariously funny, totally mad and very popular. The discworld is a disc-shaped place floating through space and time held up by 4 giant elephants. They, in turn, stand on the back of an enormous turtle called GREAT A'TUIN as it slowly swims through space.
I have no idea of the source of inspiration for Pratchett's Great A'Tuin but I gather this is similar to Chukwa from Hindu mythology.
This Celtic turtle was given to me by my good friends the Surprised Squirrels for my birthday on 5.10.11. I'm a Scot and my caching name and avatar are both celtic - which made this a very thoughtful gift. I was going to keep it, but the temptation to get it travelling is too great. I've lost so many trackables, I know how risky it is - but we all love collecting trackables, together we can defy the miseries who keep them for themselves and spoil the fun for the rest of us. So good luck turtle - maybe see you back in Bexhill one day.
