Current Goal

Let the confusion begin in this new year, 1/1/2019, LOL!  Long story short, the original trackable was a small B727 model that represented the first plane I flew at American Airlines.  That went missing, and I released an NAU Veteran coin with the duplicate dog tag.  However, recently the original trackable was apparently found!  So, if you find the coin, please retrieve it and then message me for instructions before you log it.  If you find the small model airplane, log it appropriately!  Read on for more background on this trackable!

The first trackable went missing, so I'm reactivating this code with a new item. I dedicate this to all my fellow veterans that have served or are still serving. Please do not hold on to this coin. If you are going to take it, be sure to log it, and then move it to another cache, logging again appropriately!

About This Item

Original travel bug activated 16 April 2011: Travel to various geocaches all around the USA or world, briefly describing the area for others to read about in this travel bug's logs. At the time this TB was activated, I was a pilot for the airline this Boeing 727 model represents. I flew this type aircraft for 7 or 8 years, mostly in the eastern and southern USA. The 727 is no longer in service at my airline, but it was a great airplane to fly.

As of 5pm today, looks like my little 727 has flown off somewhere. Hopefully it will get logged soon!

5/22. Sadly, this little TB is still missing. I'll remove it as missing, and hopefully it will show up later....

This cache I originated AAL727 in, is a new cache by me that is dedicated to my late wife and all those whose lives have been affected by cancer. This travel bug, the Boeing 727, is the first aircraft I flew for American Airlines. A little more story behind this TB and cache. I first met my late wife while in flight training for the US Coast Guard. She was a civilian attending the same church I visited. She helped me with my aircraft systems studies, I became a Coast Guard pilot and we got married. Eventually I left the USCG for the airlines. I flew the 727 as a Flight Engineer and First Officer for 7 or 8 years, before transitioning over to the Boeing 757 and 767, which is what I currently fly. Behind every good man, is a great woman. Unfortunately that great woman passed away after losing her battle to cancer a few years ago. I got interested in Geocaching after my brother introduced me to it, when he came out in my initial time of grief. I am now remarried, again to a very good woman. I've taken the next step in geocaching, after placing a dozen or so trackables out there, and this cache is the second one I've placed. Please enjoy moving this little travel bug around, and thanks to the "First to move it" for visiting my cache!
