King's Quest I

To be the first of the King's Quest Travel Bugs to be placed into the multi-cache "Daventry Calling" (GC23FEQ) in the nobel land of Daventry, England.

Please help 'save' your game each time you 'play' by taking a photograph of this bugs' travels. After all, an adventure game isn't fun unless you can see how the quest unfolds.

UPDATE: Congratulations to Famliy Tandem for successfully returning the King's Quest TB to the land of Daventry! It is the lone survivor of the family of four King's Quest TB's that were released on this quest. 

NEW GOAL: Now that Sir Graham has made it home to Daventry it's time to set off on a new adventure. take this TB on a tour of castles around the world. If you find yourself near the cache where he originated drop him off for a visit. I'd love to see all the wear and tear he's accumulated along the way.

Originating from the land of Galena, Illinois from the "King's Cache Quest" Series (GC20V4H), this Travel Bug and its siblings were inspired by the awesome 1980's computer game adventure series King's Quest. The fictional kingdom that Sir Graham, the benevolent hero, resided in was called Daventry. Much to my surprise I discovered that the kingdom of Daventry actually exists in a picturesque area of England. I knew right then and there that this quest could step out of the computer screen and become a reality. The rival bugs can be tracked here:

King's Quest 1: The Kingdom of Daventry is in serious trouble, after its precious magical items have been stolen from Castle Daventry. King Edward the Benevolent lacked an heir. A sorcerer promised to help the queen bear an heir, if they gave him their mirror that tells the future; looking in the mirror, the king and queen saw a vision of a young man becoming king. Thinking it was their own future son, they gave the mirror to the evil sorcerer. Alas, it was a lie and she had no heir. Years later, as the queen was sick and dying, a dwarf showed up promising to give a root that would cure her ills, if only the king would give him the "shield that protects its wearer against danger". The king agreed. The dwarf gave the root to the king, and departed. However the dwarf had lied to the king, and the queen grew worse and died. Sometime later the king looked for a new queen. One day, he rescued a beautiful young Princess Dahlia from the land of Cumberland. However, on the night of their wedding, she was discovered to be really an evil witch, and she stole the "chest that is always filled with gold" from the treasure and flew out of the castle on her broom. In time, the castle fell into ruin. Knowing that he had to save the kingdom, King Edward sends his bravest knight, Sir Graham, to retrieve the lost treasures.
