This is my first trackable in a while. I'm getting pretty close to retirment and plan to do a lot of traveling in my near future. Of course Geocaching springs to mind with the idea of going many new places.and finding friends I haven't met yet.
My #1 rule of travel is: ALWAYS TALK TO STRANGERS
My best travel adventures have not come from brochures but from talking to locals wherever I am. I find out the best (and worst) places to go for recreation. I find out where the best food is and the out of the way places and neighborhoods that offer a more authentic vibe than what most travel sites steer you to.
In that spirit, let this travel bug inspire you to Be a Traveler, Not a Tourist. While you have this bug in your possesion, talk to strangers. Ask your server about the best kept secret nearby. Ask where they take their family and friends who visit? Tell them which way your're leaving the area and ask if there's someplace out that way they know of that you should visit. And when you drop this in a new Geocache, share a unique place you know of or saw in the area so others can get out of the tourist traps and into the rhythym and vibe of the areas they visit.
