Current Goal

This travel bug is named after Leif Erikson, a Norse explorer (970AD-1020AAD), who was the first European to land in North America nearly 500 years before Christopher Columbus.

Its mission is to follow in his namesakes footsteps across the cold North Atlantic sea to America and maybe to Minnesota where there is a statue of Leif near the state capital in St Paul.

About This Item

Leif was born in Iceland and made many trips to Greenland. In several states in America they observe 'Leif Erikson Day' on October 9th - this being the day marking the first organised immigration from Norway to the US in 1825.

This travel bug is a member of a family of  travel bugs who are following their namesakes' footsteps across the world. They were set on their way by GJJLK.
