Patrol the Frontier, wherever that may be. Troop B of the 4th Regiment, U.S. Cavalry operated in the area where the TB was launched (GC 2BE7D). If you lived in the 1880s, it wasn't the Custer's 7th Cav or any other unit that was more noted and recognized than the 4th Cav. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS OUT OF THE U.S. OR CANADA UNTIL AFTER THE SUMMER OF 2013.
In 1880 the 4th Cavalry arrived in Arizona Territory, where Ranald Mackenzie was to assume full command of all military forces in the department and subdue the hostile Apaches. Within less than a month, the Apaches had surrendered or fled to Mexico, and on October 30, Mackenzie and the 4th Cavalry were transferred to the new District of New Mexico. By November 1, 1882, when W. B. Royall replaced Mackenzie as colonel, the 4th Cavalry had forced the White Mountain Apaches, Jicarilla Apaches, Navajos, and Mescaleros to remain peacefully on their respective reservations. From 1884 to 1886 the 4th Cavalry again operated against the Apaches in Arizona and helped capture Geronimo. Particularly noteworthy was B troop's pursuit of Geronimo into Northern Mexico led by Capt. Lawton and Surgeon Leonard Wood. Thus ended the regiment's participation in the Indian Wars. Found today while we were caching with our six year old. We just recently started Geocaching and this is the first travel bug we've found! My son was so thrilled and it was so much fun to show him on the map how far it has traveled! We will be moving it along further east this weekend. TFTTB

Sincere apologies for the inactivity of this travel bug. I recently went through some old project boxes of mine and found it in one of them. I placed it in my own cache, Into the Woods, this morning.
