About This Item

EntSoc Bug Four

Following my tradition (well this is the second year I've done this - that makes it a tradition doesn't it?) I'm releasing Travel Bugs near the site of the annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America, hoping they can travel to the next place the buggy people will be assembling, while seeing a lot of caches and meeting a lot of cachers along the way. The brilliant metallic green head and body of this travel bug is a real insect - a wood boring beetle (Sterncera aurosgnata),which has been mounted on a pin clasp.

EntSoc Bug Four joins his Buddies, EntSoc Bugs One and Two who were released near Fort Lauderdale in 2002, his Cincinnati buddy, EntSoc Bug Three, and EntSoc Bugs Five and Six released in Salt Lake City in 2004, all of them traveling toward Ft Lauderdale. Please take care of him and log him properly. If you can, point him southeast. And do post photos of his adventures. Good luck little Beetle. You didn't make it to Utah but I hope I see you in Florida next Fall.

I am so very sorry. I must be a travel bug idiot some days. I have done everything except pull the seats out of my Saturn and I can't find this bug. I don't think the dog ate it. That metal tag would have caused him some problems. If I happen to be luck enough to find it, I'll put it back into circulation.

I picked up EntSoc Bug Four with the expectation of dropping it off in one of the many caches I had planned around Oxford, MS today. Ended up getting rained out... I'll move it along soon.

After a long stay in OMG, I picked up the Green Metallic Jewel Beetle. I will be dropping him off in Arkansas soon.
This is my first travel bug. I like the laminated card and description.
