About This Item

Auf dem Coin sind auf der einen Seite die Landkreise aus Südniedersachsen Göttingen, Northeim, Osterode am Harz und Goslar abgebildet. Die zweite Seite zeigt das "Göttinger Gänseliesel",das meist geküsste Mädchen der Welt. Das Gänseliesel steht vor dem alten Rathaus in Göttingen. Jeder der seinen  Doktor an der Universität Göttingen gemacht hat küsst das Liesel. Dies ist für alle Freunde ein Fest. 
The real Gänseliesel ( Goose Girl) is located on the marketplace of Göttingen in front of the town hall. If a student becomes a doctor, he goes to the Gänseliesel and gives her a kiss. This is an old tradition in Göttingen.
