Current Goal

My goal is to take pictures of Belturbet, County Cavan, Ireland and return to Oakland County, Michigan, in the United States via geocache.

About This Item

Ireland

Before he immigrated to the United States in 1946, my father lived on his family's farm in Belturbet, County Cavan, Ireland. I was last able to visit Ireland in 1990 with my father, but much has changed, as he is now 90-years old and unable to travel.

This bug is a one-time-use camera. I would like it to get this travel bug as close to Belturbet as possible. I would then appreciate it if someone could give me a photo tour of the area. I also wouldn't mind a shot or two of the cache it finally ends up in.

Once the camera is completely full, I would like to have it returned via geocache back to the Metro-Detroit area in Oakland County, Michigan, United States.

Nearest known cache, closest to Belturbet, can be found at:

P.S. - Anything you can do to help me avoid the harmful effects of airport X-Rays would be much appreciated. Thanks.

As I was unable to find any one attending Forestry Shepherds, who was traveling to Eire, I ended up logging this one out of the event. When I got home, I mentioned its goals to my wife a non cacher, due to ill health. She has now stated to look at the cost of travelling over, as she has taken this bugs goals to heart. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, we will have it in the emerald island well on the way to reaching its first goal.

Taking this as I will be visiting Dublin in a few weeks time. However, I haven't cached in Ireland before so fingers crossed I'll find a cache to put it in when I get there!

It's on its way to England. I will leave on June 19. I hope to place it in the Carding Mill Capers Cache, in Shropshire County. That is very near the border of Wales, just a hop from there to Ireland.
