Did you know that the clownfish is one of the worlds most endangered species?
Clownfish are known internationally as "anemonefishes", (anemone fish) because they live their entire life (except as larval fish) along with tropical sea anemones. Clownfish are in nature is always found by a sea anemone, except for the larval stage who is lived at deep seas. Clown fish can live in the poisonous sea anemones because the fish has a protective layer of mucus which does not release poisonous sea anemones burning cells as other marine animals.
Clownfish are defending their territory with impressive aggression, particularly if they have eggs. Most species of clown fish spawn every few weeks most of the year.
Some species of clown fish communicate with each other by producing sounds with teeth and/or jaw. The clownfish is today severely threatened by pollution, etc.. Clownfish can be found in the Indo-Pacific, witch means from the east coast of Africa to Tahiti.
The clownfish is known from the movie "Finding Nemo".
