So, you want to go to water do you? I have brought The Diving Duck not only to water, but I found a bonus! I found Divers, and Diving Instructions, too. When getting into the boat, the first thing you do is remove your weight belt, and hand it to the person in the boat. Then..... I paddled away. I already looked weird enough hanging a little duckie on a chain in front of my camera and taking their pictures.
This weekend, The Diving Duck camped on Half Moon Pond, in Half Moon Pond State Park starting at 10:30PM on Friday night with the bryno, the mann, Kipster, and I. Then in the morning, we got up, had fresh eggs and bacon with english muffins for breakfast, and headed out to Sunset Lake, the clearest lake I have ever had the joy to paddle on. This is why they have diving classes there. It's 120' deep in some spots we measured with anchor lines, and who knows! And when it's 50' deep, you can still read the label on a beer can, IF you can find one. There isn't a lot of man-made litter in this lake. Then we went back to camp for some the bryno-made grilled chicken salad sandwiches on rolls, with fresh garden tomatoes from Kipster's garden, with sea salt potato chips.
Then we packed up and went to Lake Bomoseen for a few DNFs that we'll go back for. Then we came back home for big huge burgers, with more fresh tomato and that's all, they were huge burgers, and we'll never ever eat a better burger again, so what's the point of ever having one again?
So, in the morning, it was pancakes and sausage, and off to Glen Lake for two caches, saving one for another day. The mann walked around the lake and back, while we paddled. We lost him, and left a note on his car "We're waiting for you on the point for a bit, then we'll head back to the bryno's 10:52AM" and we drove around the other way to see if he was coming out all the way around, or not. We didn't find him, and he had his car and kayak, and was going to be heading to EMS in Manchester. We left and went to Roxie's for fries and cheese dog and scallops, and here comes the mann down the road, I get up from the picnic table, I yell HEY THE MANN, I wave, and he is his usual self, eyes on the road, don't take the eyes off the road, even for weird old ladies waving and yelling and flailing, so on he goes. We get held up later, with a slow pit stop, someone decided to have a conversation while blocking the gas pump and we head to EMS, knowing we'll never catch up to the mann, but we don't have to anyway. I just want to, but he's long gone.
I pull into EMS, get out of my car, the car to my right pulls out, and someone pulls up to pull in. I wave the mann right into the spot next to me. The look on his face, priceless. We all went in and got stuff to go in our new kayaks (water bottles, seat back, dry bags) and the mann headed home, while I took the bryno and his camping gear home, then I headed home choosing only farm roads, but that's because of another TB named Grandpa Fee's Farmall, so that's a whole other log. I hope you enjoy the photos of the water features The Diving Duck and I took this weekend.
Cache you later,
Planet

  • OK, not a bad wake up call. Not bad at all. This is how The Diving Duck started his day. Nice view across from the campsite.
  • Let's take our boats to the water! Can you find the 4th boat?
  • Look, we found divers!
  • Can you blame them, just look at this water!
  • The Diving Ducky, no opposable thumbs to paddle
  • Diving Duck and Divers Down

  • I like to live life on the edge... of the pond.
  • Kipster caught a Perch.

  • Didn't I say this water is clear?
  • Clear and beautiful.
  • Oooh, a path..... I only found this, because an otter, or something similar, just swam up this way.
  • I made it this far, and got grounded. I had to back out. It was spidery getting back out backwards.

This poor little Diving Duck has been missing all of summer! At least it was sitting by a beautiful pond, that we cleaned up in the Spring of this year. I'll move it along, and take it to water! Because I have been spending a lot of time on the water lately. We all got new kayaks. I had to replace mine after a tree crushed it. Someday, I'll restore it.
So, come along little Ducky, here we go!
Cache you later,

  • Nice spot for a duck.
  • What did the fish say, when it swam into the wall? Dam.
  • This has been home since June. Not bad for a duck.

This duck has been hanging around Connecticut long enough - time to move it up to Maine for some kayaking.
