About This Item

Moose meat in Mason Jars has been sent all over the world to Newfoundlanders who are living and working away from home; craving a meal of bottled moose. A popular saying in Newfoundland is "Got to get me Moose boy!" We hope this travel bug will bring a smile to any of those who find it.

Finally

This is the last time I'll post bunch of pictures 😌 I think I held on to Mason for quite a while and now it's about time to send him out again. But before that happens I gotta find a cache where he really wants to got >> a true "moosish" cache 😛

Anyway - we had an interesting time since the last post but see for yourself:

 • Amperidyllcache Mason himself started to search for caches and he found some: This one ist the "Amper Idylle" which is a very nice multi close to the river Amper
 • Amperidyllcache 2 This is a small oxbow lake at the Amper - we didn't have to cross it on this log
 • Maria Brunn This cache is very close to a "Biergarten" - unfortunately it was closed so I couldn't show Mason anything.
 • Kirchdorf Mason was to lazy to walk so he solved this multi completely at home in order to drive directly to the cache. Well it worked out in the end: We could park our car less than 70 meters away :)
 • Work 1 I took Mason with me to the university and he imediately started to construct some strange device using CAD.
 • Work 2 Unfortunately this robot was only a exhibit - I guess Mason wanted to go for a ride
 • Work 3 This is a part of what I do: Testing new car-seats. There isn't much to see since the set-up is in an early stage.
 • Rabbit Although almost nobody knows about them but there're quite a lot of unpaved roads in Bavaria ... yes and Mason liked them most :)
 • Mission Echo Mason at one of the toughest night-caches in Germany: Mission Echo. He joined me while checking some stages.
 • Mission Echo - done Mason and I after we did our job. One stage needed to be repaired but it wasn't a big deal.
 • Schüss Mason! All the moose say goodby - the small one with the red cap right next to Mason already left and is now in Victoria, BC. Btw. his name is "Blindfuchs"

Night-caching at its best

Mason decided that he wants to see some night-caches and since I had to check three of them anyway I took him with me. The first cache wasn't really a cache: Mission Mike is a letterbox 🙂 Anyway - it was a very clear night and we saw a lot of stars and a beautiful moon out there.
The next cache was a very special one - it's only listed on terracaching.com but just have a look at the picture "tunnel" and you'll see 😈
Between this and the next cache Karin, Mason and I made a tour to an old launching site of the German Army. But instead of Hawk anti-aircraft-missiles there are very nice bisons within the compound 😛 Unfortunately they are very shy so the always walked away as soon as we got to the fence.
The last cache of Masons night-caching experience was TU3. A very short cache with only three stages but for the second stage you'll need a NVD. It was a little bit too difficult for Mason to handle it so he just let me do the job. Afterwards he checked one of the reflectors because he could grab the torch a little bit better with his hands 🤡

 • Mission Mike and the Cloud The cloud is illuminated by the lights of Munich
 • The moon at Mission Mike
 • Tunnel well ... you get the idea I hope
 • Bison
 • Bunker In front of the main entrance was a small bunker with a nice view over the area
 • Lazy Moose
 • Hü-Hott! Karins favourite animals ... after moose. Mason was scared because they are so tall. That's why he's not on the picture.
In the right background you can see my car
 • Mason seen through a NVD
 • Reflector Mason found it ...

Today Mason and I decided to have a living history lesson. We went to a so-called "Keltenschanze". It's a 2000-yearold celtic relict. The archeologists aren't quite sure whether these relicts are some kind of a ritual place, a fort or simply a settlement. It's about 100 m x 100 m in size and bordered by ramparts. There're about 300 of these also called "Viereckschanzen" in Bavaria. They all have just one entry which is never located in the northern rampart. The entry of the Keltenschanze where Mason and I were was located towards south.

 • Small chapel This small chapel was on our way. Mason is sitting on the roof above the door
 • Inside the chapel
 • Logbook The chapel had it's own logbook. The left entry reads "The water tastes GREAT! p.s.: does it heal broken arms?"
The right one is even better:
"This spring is da freaking gangsta-spring" (this part has been crossed out)
"Thank you dear God"

Looks like his mum came around :-)
 • Our entry
 • A roe deer which is a remote relative of Mason
 • A reconstruction of the "Keltenschanze"
 • A part of the rampart Might not be very impressive but if you know that it's man-made and over 2000 years old it can be impressive.

Another Adventure in Germany

Last sunday Karin and I had the choice whether we go climbing or go sledging. We took Mason with us and went to the local hill sledging 😁 I think Karin and Mason liked it ...

 • Mason on the sledge
 • Karin and Mason were really lazy
 • Snow-House Mason built this snow-house on his own

Me again 😛
After work I went for another cache and since this one didn't took very long I made some photos of Mason and Blindfuchs. I showed im the old city of Dachau. Most of you might heard about Dachau and think of the concetration camp which is located east of Dachau. Although this is a very dark chapter of the citys history I'd say that the camp isn't worth visiting: First the camp wasn't an extermination camp like Ausschwitz or Mauthausen and therefore doesn't show darkest faces of mankind. And second Dachau itself is too beautiful to miss.
So see for yourself - I think Mason enjoyed this winter-day in Dachau.

 • View from Dachau to Munich
 • St. Jakob church Since 1625 this is a renaissance church. Before it has been a gothic architecture
 • The small streets of Dachau
 • The old palace of Dachau This renaissance palace has been built from 1546 - 1573 by "Herzog Wilhem IV.". There is a very good restaurant located inside.
 • Mason found the cache
 • Sunset @ Petershausen After Dachau I went out for a walk together with Karin >> Mason wanted to come along so here are some pictures of him, Karin and the small river Glonn.
 • Karin and Mason
 • The Glonn
 • It's good to be a moose ... ... you'll always find a hood which carrys you about.

Mason and Blindfuchs decided that's the perfect weather to make a trip to a frozen lake in the morning. It was quite cold (-14°C) so the two thought it's safe to walk on the ice. Fortunately they were right 😉

 • Mason and Blindfuchs In the background you can see some ice-hockey fields.
 • Does the ice hold their weight?

Looks like Mason hit the jackpot: He made his way to Germany and met some other moose 😁 I'll wait with logging this TB until it has been logged into the cache where I got him (Nachtschwärmer event-cache). In the meantime his new friends will show him how Bavaria looks like 👍
