To make it to as many military installations, and have a picture taken at the location's signs, as possible. And, of course, to visit as many caches as possible along the way!
As many know, military life is not easy and moving from location to location is a common part of military life. Such is the life of a travel bug as well! In addition, missions for military members often change as well.
This is the 3rd mission for this travel bug. His original mission was to find his way to the Fort Belvoir area to be retrieved by a good friend I met while stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany, We were then stationed together as part of Heidelberg Hospital before going separate ways. During this journey this bug went MIA for 10-1/2 months before, thankfully, being discovered by another cacher who sent him on his way.
Unfortunately, my friend never got into geocaching as he anticipated so the mission was changed. Since I had moved to San Antonio, TX (Military City USA) the mission was adjusted to make it here so we could be reunited. Since both my friend and I were Medical Serice Corps officers, coming back to the Home of the Combat Medic (Fort Sam Houston) was a perfect destination. Unfortuantely, in September 2015 a newer geocacher picked him up and never placed him in another cache even though I reached out several times over several years.
It is now April 2023. He is being liberated from his POW camp and now it's time to tell the story of his adventures. To help other military members who have experienced difficulties through their service, he would like to visit as many military installations as possible.
The travel Bug itself is/are two large plastic Army men that are connected to each other. PLEASE KEEP THEM TOGETHER since true friends can never be separated.
