I am reluctant to release Doug the Slug as after a few weeks he'll more than likely get lost or stolen like most of our other trackables.
I have assigned personal trackables for certain occasions (such as interesting caches, or more extreme caches) but I don't have a more general purpose trackable, such as one that may be discovered by others when they meet me, if they so wish. I think Doug the Slug will live on my keyring for such opportunities, and perhaps will visit the odd cache (particularly if slugs or snails are encountered, which is quite often).
I've seen many personal trackables whose history consists of nothing but blank visited records. They make for pretty dull reading, even for the trackable's owner. With Doug, I've tried to write at least one word for each visit. One year after his activation, I went back through Doug's logs and even with just these short sentence logs, I found it pretty interesting, and I could recall the finds. So I'm going to continue doing this.
Doug the Slug was an FTF prize on an interesting cache involving ballistics and projectiles, and I can just about crowbar an association between slug (as in bullet) and slug (as in mollusc).
Oddly, this geocoin's image and icon is of a snail, yet it is marketed as a Travel Slug. I'll stick with the slug theme for now, I think.
