To raise money for the people of Christchurch, New Zealand affected by the earthquake on 22 Feb 2011. Please help this special geocoin reach geocache GC1G3GZ, "Point of No Return (FAR North)" in Cape Reinga, New Zealand. For every 100 miles logged by this coin before the 1 year anniversary of the earthquake (and up to the total mileage distance from the UK to NZ), Ed2Ed will donate £1 to the Red Cross NZ Earthquake Appeal (www.redcross.org.uk/NZEarthquake). £70 has already been donated and on the one year anniversary the coin had travelled 14,294 miles in total. The final donation will be made soon. THANK YOU
This coin was specially minted after the earthquake to help raise funds to rebuild the lives and infrastructure of Christchurch. Ed2Ed had family visiting Christchurch just 5 days before the quake, so this hit rather close to home as "what might have been". Later in the holiday they visited Cape Reinga and planted a tree for their grand-daughters Ruby and Rose. We would like this coin to find its way to the same place. Photographs of its travels would be great. THANK YOU
