In honor of my great-great grandfather Captain Adam B. Martin and the 150th anniversary of the Civil War this tag has a Civil War theme.
This tag features southern generals at the Battle of Second Manassas. Please take me as far west as possible to locations of historical or cultural importance during 2011 and 2012 south of 45 degrees north before returning to southcentral Pennsylvania near Gettysburg or Chambersburg by the anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg or burning of Chambersburg in 2013.
A similar tag is traveling through the northern states.
This Travel Bug is in honor of the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War and my great-great grandfather Captain Adam B. Martin who served with the 6th Maryland and was killed in action at the Wilderness.
Captain Martin was from Smithsburg, MD, and joined the Union Army in the fall of 1863. He had previously served in the Mexican War. He was wounded on the evening of May 5 in the leg which was amputated, but led to his death the following morning.
Captain Martin grew up in the same household as his parents and grandfather who was a veteran of the Pennsylvania militia in the Revolutionary War.
I would like to see as many historical and natural sites as I can until I return home in south central Pennsylvania near Gettysburg or Chambersburg in 2013.
