About This Item

DSC_0050

I got this travel bug as a prize at an Event Cache I went to called First To Find The Key Number Blitz (http://coord.info/GC2TH9R). The event was really fun, and I made a bunch of new friends. I wanted to do something special with this TB, so I took with me to visit my Grampa Dean in my hometown of Imperial Beach. While I was there I had a picture taken of me, my Grampa, and, the TB on his front porch. I was visiting my Grampa on this particular occasion because he had been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, and had been given a short time to live. This picture was taken moments before I left to return home to Oregon.  Grampa passed away a few months later, so this picture was taken the last time that I saw my Grampa.  The original mission for this TB was to keep moving so that I could share its travels with Grampa Dean; however, I have been able to share its travels with my dad and my sister, and both have thoroughly enjoyed it.  Therefore, the mission remains the same. Take it far and wide. Grampa Dean lives on in many ways, one of which is being the namesake of this TB.

Please post pictures of the places that this TB visits.

Hi, Today I took the kids out for a bit of Geocaching and to enjoy the sun after a lot of rainy cold days here in the Barossa Valley, Australia. We stumbled across this Cache and the Children were so excited to find this travel bug. We are planning on going on a holiday in the next couple of weeks to the York Peninsula a beautiful place near the Sea. The kids love the beach and are looking forward to taking this Travel Bug on a little holiday to send it off on its way again! We have thoroughly enjoyed reading you heart warming story about how "Me and my Grampa Dean" came about and the beautiful story behind it. Happy Travelling Dean
