Along Vassara River and the railroad is the area where the Sami settled down when they stopped in Gällivare for longer periods.
The ruling "Swedish" class did not want Sami to maintain there ancient nature religion but wanted to Christianize them, so they built the old church which the locals named Ettöreskyrkan.
This is because all residents had pay a penny each for four years to finance the construction from 1747
