Current Goal

Starting with Texas, take me to all the states of the Confederacy, then bring me back home to Texas. South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina. Photos if convenient.  This is the second Confederate Flag TB.  The first got from Texas to Georgia, then disappeared.

About This Item

FlagConfederacy

What is now often called "The Confederate Flag" or "The Confederate Battle Flag" (specifically the flag of the Army of Tennessee), despite its never having historically represented the CSA as a nation, has become a widely recognized symbol of the South. It is also called the "rebel", "Southern Cross, or "Dixie" flag, and is often incorrectly referred to as the "Stars and Bars" (the actual "Stars and Bars" is the First National Flag, which used an entirely different design). This flag has its origins as a naval jack. There are square and rectangular versions. The colors are those of the US flag. The large X replaced a cross to avoid religious connotations. The flag's stars represented the number of states in the Confederacy. The original number was seven. The distance between the stars decreased as the number of states increased, reaching thirteen when the secessionist factions of Missouri and Kentucky joined in late 1861.

Sorry this was held in inventory for so long. Found a great cache to drop it in while camping in Caprock Canyon SP this weekend. Left it in a cache with a great view for someone else to extend the journey.
