Hi, I'm an Aussie born camel originating from Alice Springs in Central Australia. Mainly birds, reptiles and dingo's out here, so I'm off to travel the world ! Hopefully I'll meet other animals I've never seen in some interesting places and then someone will bring me back home to tell about my adventures.
These beautiful animals are not native to Australia. They were brought out here in the earlier years as they were much better for traversing our deserts than horses. Australia is now home to more than 500,000 camels, the largest population of wild camels in the world. They occupy an estimated 2.8 million square kms. Even so, it can be hard to spot any when travelling through the outback.
