I maintain records on my trackables. They have the goal to circulate more than five years and to be moved by at least 25 cachers. That is a target rate of five drops per year for five years, or a drop every 73 days. The average drop rate of my trackables in the US is 124 days, in Europe it is 71 days. As of 30-May-24 this trackable had survived for 12.4 years and had been moved by 70 cachers, for an average drop every 65 days, or 5.7 drops per year.
Please keep it moving, then drop it in a safe place!
No permission is needed to leave the U.S. While in the U.S., please drop it at an event, in a Premium Member only OR a rural cache near a busy trail or road. Do not place it in an urban, non-premium cache. Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean and dry, protects the number and prevents tangling with other items. Otherwise, take the trackable anywhere you wish.
One of the real bargains in Europe is the public transportation, particularly for visitors. One can typically purchase passes like this one for specific periods, like 1, 3 or 7 days, at reduced rates. In many places we have traveled, the transportation passes may include trains, subways, buses, trams, cable cars, lifts, funiculars and boats. In Zurich we got around on subways and trains. On our last day there we rode one of the boats that hauls commuters to stops around Lake Zurich.

This nice but foggy Sunday Laura and I continued our adventure in this area. We were here for the last full day, and so planned a nice hike to the Wolf Cliffs, an amazing geological example of leftover mines reaching back to the Napoleon years. This was the first stash we actually found; a nice early stretch while climbing a tree!

To end the evening with, Laura and I took this TB to the GeoWest park; a legendary forest for CO’s with energy to go wild with their craziest and most creative inventions and contraptions. I admit that this short three-cache visit wasn’t the most cool one, but it was nice nonetheless. It’s always nice to return to the GeoWest park. Glad this TB came with us to cap the evening off with!

After finding the historic oldie cache, we returned towards this one, which we visited before but had no offline data to view the listing. We picked up a TB and found our way to this stash after getting lost in the forest briefly. Nice to actually find it! And from here, it’s towards the car!

Today was our last day in Carlsbad, the city of foreigners from the east. We were moving to the north, and decided to have a slightly slower checkout, extending our time in the city by a few more hours before heading out. It’s the fourth day of our January mini-vacation, and during today we hiked 14 kilometers, during which we visited nine geocaches, five Waymarks and three Adventure Labs. Not bad stats for moving from hotel to hotel and not really having big plans for the day! Right off in the morning, Laura enjoyed a pretty magical tea room in our spa hotel, after which we reunited at the hotel checkout and headed our to our second destination here. While we were only moving a half hour up north, we took the opportunity to visit a couple of very nice sights and visit a few stashes.
After getting in the car and getting ready, we set off and our first destination was the oldie cache Krudum, placed by our first official reviewer 18 years ago. An exciting destination, we drove a bit through the countryside and parked at N 050° 09.058' E 012° 43.087’, from where we started our hike. We passed some multicache stages and as we continued our very steep ascend, we finally came to this one. This was an amazing find which we found pretty quickly, though our journey here wasn’t without pain.
It was a truly steep climb. We didn’t have any waypoints to follow and reading logs didn’t have much information. I’ll cut to the chase though; boy, was this a nice find. I’m glad we came here, and brought this TB with us. While coming here, we also climbed a pretty unique lookout tower, where we snapped photos of this TB 40 meters up high, and then a half hour later in the forest. A good day for adding to this TB’s gallery! Glad we could make this pilgrimage! Now on to the next one!

While on our pilgrimage to the historic, 18 year old cache placed by the Czech Republic’s first reviewer, we took a very nice hike in these peaceful forests, climbing vertically like some crazy goats and getting our exercise on in this lovely forest. Glad this TB came with us!
