Robert Benoist and W Williams - Racing Drivers
This TB is in the tradition of great motor sporting achievements.
The choice of its name is worth checking-out. The named individuals were famous drivers of Bugattis and similar racing cars.
Co-incidentally, they were also secret agents in WWII with an intriguing history. Parachuted back into France by the SOE - Special Operations Executive - they frequently escaped capture by the Germans using fast cars and their proven driving skills.
Both were eventually captured and are thought to have died in concentration camps. Some research has shown evidence that one of them was a double-agent and acting with and for the occupying Germans and Vichy France.
Intriguingly, one may have survived the Second World War, only to die in car accident in 1985.
The mission is to visit great sporting venues in the hands of the owner.
Robert Benoist & W. Williams
These drivers were major figures in the 1920s; W. Williams was a pseudonym, as his Mother didn't want him to race.
He won several Grand Prix and the Le Mans 24-hour race; and that's where the TB is off to on its first leg.
