Current Goal

This travel bug has two modest goals, to survive more than five years and to be moved by 25 cachers.  As of 4-Sep-18 it had been circulating for 6.9 years, but it had been moved by only 5 cachers.

Please drop this item in rural OR Premium Member Only caches.  Do not place it in an urban cache or abandon it at a caching event.  Transport the bug in the original plastic bag for as long as the bag lasts; the bag keeps the trackable clean and prevents tangling with other items.  Otherwise, take the travel bug anywhere you wish.  No permission is needed to leave the U.S.

Photos in the travel bug logs are appreciated.  I will be re-post them here, where they can be seen by other cachers.

About This Item

ZurichBell

In the rural areas of Austria and Switzerland, it is common to see bells on livestock.  Traditionally they were used to locate free ranging livestock.  The earliest livestock bells were made of wood, but cast metal bells (like this one) were more durable and produced a cleaner sound.  Trychlen bells are those made of hammered sheet metal. This results in a clanking sound, but at the same time results in a bell much lighter and cheaper to produce.  These are the most widely used bells today.  This bell was purchased in the Zurich airport.
