One of the real bargains in Europe is the public transportation, particularly for visitors.  One can typically purchase passes like this one for specific periods, like 1, 3 or 7 days, at reduced rates.  In many places we have traveled, the transportation passes may include trains, subways, buses, trams, cable cars, lifts, funiculars and boats.  

In Innsbruck we used trams, buses, funiculars and cable cars to get around, that included around town and to the tops of some of the mountains surrounding the valley.  I uploaded a photo taken from a winter ski slope, but is used in summer by hang gliders and base jumpers.
