This is not collectible.
On our very first geocaching trip to a nearby park, we never found the cache, but we found Captain Carl. He was buried in the mud, with only his feet sticking out. When we unburied him, he was dirty and missing his parachute but he was otherwise in good condition.
We cleaned him up and decided he deserved a second chance in life. So here he is, on his new mission. Please only take Captain Carl if you are moving him to another cache. Jot us a note if you are going to have him for more than a couple of weeks.
Captain Carl was a good soldier so please help him get the second chance he deserves!
NOTE ADDED March 6 2017
This travel bug went MIA 5 years ago.
He was recently found and rescued by our hero IowaPete. Here is the whole rescue story:
"Greetings!!!
Captain Carl is sitting right next to me and is in great shape. It's just plain old dumb luck that got this to happen. Here's the story...
Every once in a while, I look over the travel bugs I released and reach out to the last finder of a travel bug to see if they might still have it. Most of the time, I get no response. For some reason, when I reached out to Bugpirate, he responded. He said that when he grabbed my TB, it was with the intent of publishing a travel bug hotel near his home. He was accumulating a number of them and was excited at the prospect of starting a TB hotel filled with coins and TB's.
But, "life got in the way" and his interest in his project and geocaching in general, went away. When I reached out to him, he told me that he would be willing to give me all of the trackables that he'd collected.
When I finally received the envelope, I opened it and out tumbled FORTY-EIGHT trackables, including the travel bug I released. In going over the records, it seems that they've all been out of the game since April of 2012. I can't wait to get them back into the game. A second life for all of them!
I live outside of the town of La Motte, Iowa, just south of the city of Dubuque. GC6ZA54 is the GC code of the event I will be releasing all of the travel bugs at. I will keep my fingers crossed that yours gets out there and goes goes goes.
Thanks for touching base with me. Means a lot that you're as excited about the news as I am!!
Kindest regards,
iowaPete"
Captain Carl is a solider with a remarkable history of second and third chances so PLEASE don't keep him or store him--let him breathe the fresh air! =D
