My name is Big Blue
My Mission is to travel far and wide celebrating the turning off of selective availability of GPS satellite transmissions.
Travel me to wherever GPS accuracy is appreciated.
GPS based accurate global positioning as we know it today in the civilian sector was not possible until the U.S. military turned off deliberate degradation (selective availability) on 5/2/2000. After that date, many opportunities opened up such as GPS geocaching, modern marine & land navigation, street navigating, etc., etc.
If you do not intend to log your visit onto the geocaching.com web site, please DO NOT TAKE ME. My travels and progress require you to log that I have been taken from this geocache. You will also need to log when you place me in another geocache. It’s easy!
If you are willing to log your part of my journey and place me in another geocache as soon as possible (after you log your find), retrieve me from this geocache.
My geocoin owner is a retired U.S. Army service member of 24 years who understands and appreciates the technological opportunities given us by the military. The end of the cold war was a major contributor to the elimination of “Selective Availability”.
