I was in town for a convention and decided to see some old friends for lunch after I arrived at DFW. Aftewards, I took a short walk to find the cache easily. Signed log, left nothing, took nothing. Thanks for the hide!

We were on our way home from Charlevoix after coming up for a mother's day lunch when someone said "there's a Cherry Pie!" We pulled on over and found the cache easily. We signed the log and left a Frank and Peggy pathtag. Thanks for the fun!

Retrieve It from a Cache 5/11/2008 Rathergohiking retrieved it from Rocking Charlevoix Michigan   Visit Log

After coming from Traverse City to Charlevoix for a mother's day lunch, we were able to sneak away while da Ma and the girls went into an antique shop: da Pa and son walked rather quickly and found the cache. When we opened the container, the log was wet and there was no pencil. We did not have one either. We improvised and used dirt and a stick to put "RGH" in the log book. Thanks for the cache!

First to log, but second to find. FTF goes to Peppermintpatti. We've found a cache very near to this one before. Thanks for the hide!

We left the house today with the goal of finding one or more of the Sand Lakes series of caches. After Spot jumped in the back and attaching the bike rack to my jeep, we put on our bikes and headed towards the south end of the series to make an attempt at SL #5.

We got to the trailhead area an I got out and started to get a few things out of the back seat only to hear TheWaypointKid yell “Dad, our bikes are gone!”. Sure enough, they were. Evidently, I did not secure the Thule correctly and we did not hear or see them fall off on our drive out to the trailhead. We immediately started to backtrack how we had come – Five Mile to Supply road to Broomhead to the road on the south side of Sand Lakes Quiet area. We were getting a bit anxious when we arrived at Supply road and still no bikes. We called the house to see if maybe they had fallen off when I left the house. They had not. We got as far as the Woodland School and there were two cars pulled over. We pulled over as well, and there were our bikes still attached to the Thule! Some people had pulled them off the road and we surprised and disappointed at the same time when we informed them that they were our bikes. The bikes and the Thule appeared to have survived in good shape, so I put them back on and made very sure the Thule was attached correctly to the Jeep. Upon further inspection, TheWaypointKid’s new bike survived with jus a shattered reflector. My bike now has a slightly bowed front wheel that needs to be replaced.

Not to let a bit of excitement to deter us, we came back to the trailhead and road our bikes with Spot the Geocaching Hound dog running ahead of us and leading the way. We found SL #5 easily, signed/stamped the log book, left a signature card and returned to the Jeep rather than to go after a few more caches. We had all had enough excitement for the day.

Thanks for the fun cache, and we will be back to find the rest of the caches in this series.
