10 Years of Patriotic Geocaching

 

Selective Availability (SA) turned off at midnight May 1, 2000, improving the precision of civilian GPS from about 1000 feet to about 65 feet. This allowed users to receive a non-degraded signal globally, thus helping to establish geocaching as a hobby. Many events are sharing this anniversary as well as this geocoin to commemorate it. Featured geocoin displays the patriotic red, white and blue colors
