From this cache site you could see another place that was important to the travelers of the Oregon Trail. When the travelers reached Chimney Rocks they knew that they were leaving the plains and would be climbing the Rocky Mountains. The hope was to reach this spot by the last week or June or first week of July, because if they reached this spot any later they might hit the snow storms that would hit the Rocky Mountain in September. The travelers of the Oregon Trail would travel between 10 to 15, sometimes 20 miles per day (if thing were going very well).

Long before there were cars, trains and planes people traveled by oxen and wagon across the great plains of America to make there way to California and Oregon, along the "Oregon Trail." The Jailhouse Rock & Courthouse Rock was one of the sights that the travelers would see among a plains that had very few trees. These rocks could be seen up to 30 miles away by the travelers (at least when it was a good day). I had heard about this spot all my life and it was great to see them in person and refect on the blessing and wonderful things we have today.

We visited the place that Hebert Hoover was born. He was the president during World War I. He also lived in Newberg, Oregon as a boy after his father died. Newberg is near the spot of the first geocaching site.
