About This Item

Two Green feet is the trade mark of Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) Units of the United States Air Force (USAF).  The USAF is the only service that has dedicated CSAR forces trained to recover personnel that have been shot down or isolated in hostile territory.  The symbol was first used by Pararescue (PJ’s) in Vietnam who had it tattooed on their buttocks as a souvenir of their combat tour or first combat save.  The Green Feet Symbol originated from the “Jolly Green” nick name and call sign of rescue helicopters used in Vietnam.

The tradition continues to live on today and is not only used by Pararescue, but also helicopter crew members and maintenance personnel that execute the CSAR mission.  If you take note, this set has five toes on one foot and six on the other and is from the 56th Rescue Squadron assigned to RAF Lakenheath in the UK.
