Von unserem Urlaub 2014 auf der Kanal-Insel Jersey haben wir auch etwas Kleingeld mit nach Hause gebracht.

Die Insel hat einige Besonderheiten und auch eine eigene Währung: Das Jersey-Pfund-Sterling (JEP) ist optisch und wertmäßig angelehnt an das britische Pfund, das dort ebenfalls akzeptiert wird.
Die Münzen haben den Aufdruck "bailiwick of Jersey", ansonsten entsprechen sie den englischen, sogar die Queen ist darauf abgebildet.
Die im Jahr 2010 ausgegebenen Banknoten erscheinen erstmals dreisprachig englisch/französisch/Jèrriais. Dabei ist die Vorderseite in englisch, die Rückseite französisch („États de Jersey“, Wertangabe in Livres) und Jèrriais (Wertangabe in Louis).
Außerhalb von Jersey wird das Jersey-Pfund nur auf den benachbarten Kanalinseln (Guernsey, Sark und Alderney) als gültiges Zahlungsmittel anerkannt.
Jersey-Pfund wird von europäischen oder britischen Banken in der Regel nicht zurückgetauscht.
