The Fire Man leave the Village Arcen en Velden, Netherland.


 

   The municipality Arcen en Velden (Netherland) takes leave of a period of independence of 208 years on December 31, 2009. She merges into the neighbouring town and city of Venlo.

The legend says that in the Village of Arcen and Velden a Fire Man is wandering for quite a long time with a red-hot stone into his hands.
A Fire Man is a fiery phantom, who is cursed in his life. It can be an unjust land surveyor, or a farmer who unlawfully replaced boundary stones.
The sinner can not rest after his death. As punishment for this act, he must wander as a fiery appearance after his death. He is often found at the spot where he has committed his crime.
Because after the reclassification Arcen and Velden gets new boundaries, the Fire Man again show to the people and then go to the new Village.....
