Travel into the Lambayeque Valley of Peru
In ancient Peru, there is a legend of Naymlap, the founder of a
dynasty in the Lambayeque Valley of Peru. He arrived with a vast fleet
of balsa rafts and brought an idol of green stone and built a palace
for its installation. Naylamp's courtiers blew shell trumpets,
scattered seashells for Naymlap to walk on, he had a keeper of his
feathered shirt. His was a reign of peace. When he died, his courtiers
kept it secret, burying him in the same room where he lived. His
followers left their homes to look for him. Nine generations later,
the dynasty ended when the last ruler tried to move the green idol out
of the palace, but was intercepted by the devil in the form of a
beautiful seductress. His seduction led to a rain that flooded the
valley for 30 years and then famine and sterility. Angry mobs threw
the ruler into the Pacific.
