Harry's Coin

In Memory of Harry Gale Barnes -- beloved father, husband to our mother, grandfather, and friend. He and our mom Marian loved to travel, so it is the wish of his family that this token of Harry Barnes journey back to one of his very favorite places on the planet. In the 1970's and 80's Harry and Marian spent a great deal of time in a seaside resort town of Weston-super-mare in North Somerset, England. While there they always stayed at the Commodore Hotel, with many happy memories of the place.  They never returned there but remembered it with love, and so the mission of this coin is to go to The Commodore Hotel in Weston-super-mare on Sand Bay and be permanently placed in the pub there. On the way, we would enjoy seeing the travels that Harry's Coin makes; please post photos.

The reason a guitar-pick was chosen as his coin was our father's lifelong love of music, particularly swing and jazz; he set out at the youthful age of 16 to make a living with his brother George's guitar and didn't stop playing until shortly before his death at age 72.  He even met the woman who would become his wife while playing on a USO bandstand during WWII, and after the war played in a jazz/swing group called The Modulators for many years, still using the same guitar.  That guitar, a '36 Gibson, is in the hands of family today who love music still... though not nearly as much as they loved the musician.

This coin was placed in a cache in his honor in Florence, Arizon, USA, on March 29, 2012-- Easter Time-- exactly two years after Harry's wife Marian, our mother, left us to join her beloved in the hands of the Creator. We love and miss you, Daddy; peace to you both, and our love to you forever.
