Sam's Bernie the Black Bear Trackable

RE-RELEASED AS PROXY #3 ON 11/12/23 AFTER PROXY #2 WENT MISSING FROM A CACHE WHERE IT HAD BEEN PLACED OVER 14 MONTHS AGO. PROXY #2 HAD TRAVELED ALMOST 5,350 MILES BEFORE IT DISAPPEARED IN MILLERSTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA!!  PROXY #3 CONSISTS OF TWO 2" x 2" LAMINATES ATTACHED TO A BLACK SCRUNCHY BAND. ONE HAS A PICTURE OF THE ORIGINAL TB ON ONE SIDE AND THE TB’s CODE AND THE WORD "PROXY" ON THE OTHER SIDE. THE OTHER HAS THE TB’s MISSION ON ONE SIDE AND INSTRUCTIONS FOR HANDLING TBs ON THE OTHER SIDE.

RE-RELEASED AGAIN AS PROXY #2 ON 1/10/21 AFTER PROXY #1 WENT MISSING FROM A CACHE WHERE IT HAD BEEN PLACED OVER 15 MONTHS AGO.  IT HAD NOT TRAVELED ANY ADDITIONAL MILES BEFORE IT DISAPPEARED IN METROPOLIS, ILLINOIS!!

RE-RELEASED AS A PROXY ON 9/27/19 AFTER THE ORIGINAL TB WENT MISSING FROMA CACHE WHERE IT HAD BEEN PLACED ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO.  IT HAD ONLY TRAVELED ABOUT 330 MILES BEFORE IT DISAPPEARED IN HULBERT, OKLAHOMA!!

Bernadette (Bernie) the Black Bear likes to surprise geocachers and scare them away. She is particularly cautious when her cub, Brady, is around. Always geocache with a partner who is slower than you, in case she comes chasing. Bernie prefers forests and she is an excellent tree climber. She has also been known to wander around mountains and swamps. 

Bernie was initially set free by PopPop and Grammie for grandson Sam Swanson in the Palo Duro Canyon State Park, south of Amarillo, Texas.  Sam wants to see her travel from cache to cache in National and State Parks growling about all of the fun games and toys she finds in caches. 

She is made of aluminum, measures just under 2", so she should fit nicely in small canisters.  She also comes with a 3.5" chain for attaching your favorite hitchhiker.
