Kia ora - that's Maori for hello - from Wellington, New Zealand.
Can't wait to show you just how beautiful my homeland is. We have two native languages here - English and Maori, the mother tongue of our indigenous people. The Maori word for New Zealand is Aotearoa, which means "land of the long white cloud".
I live in Wellington, the capital city, with my husband and pet dog Cola (she's a 15-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier who got her name because she's the same colour as the soft-drink Coca-Cola). When I'm not geocaching, I work as a senior journalist for a major daily newspaper called The Dominion Post (www.dompost.co.nz) and I also write a geocaching-themed blog called It's Not About The Numbers (www.notaboutthenumbers.com) with my brother Peter - very soon I will even be blogging about your TB race.
Wellington is located at the bottom of the North Island and has nearly 500,000 residents. New Zealand's entire population is just over 4 million, though we have millions more sheep thanks to all the farms here. They say there about 10 sheep to every New Zealander (or Kiwi as we call ourselves after our flightless national bird).
If you have any questions about my country, please send me a message.
Haere mai for now.
