Current Goal

My main mission is to travel to my native land of Japan, stopping at as many places along the way. In Japan there is a statue of an Akita Inu of the famous Hachiko. In the movie, Hachi: A dogs tale, when Hachiko was a puppy he was played by a Shiba Inu. There is a cache very close to the statue that I would really like to visit and a picture with Hachiko. That would fulfill one of my many dreams and then I could make my way back home.

About This Item

Hello, My name is Cyrus.

The Shiba Inu is the smallest of the six original and distinct breeds of dog from Japan.

A small, agile dog that copes very well with mountainous terrain, the Shiba Inu was originally bred for hunting. It is similar in appearance to the Akita, though much smaller in stature. It is one of the few ancient dog breeds still in existence in the world today.

Origin of the name

Inu is the Japanese word for dog, but the origin of the prefix "Shiba" is less clear. The word shiba means "brushwood" in Japanese, and refers to a type of tree or shrub whose leaves turn red in the fall. This leads some to believe that the Shiba was named with this in mind, either because the dogs were used to hunt in wild shrubs, or because the most common color of the Shiba Inu is a red color similar to that of the shrubs. However, in an old Nagano dialect, the word shiba also had the meaning of "small", thus this might be a reference to the dog's small size. Therefore, the Shiba Inu is sometimes translated as "Little Brushwood Dog".

My name is Cyrus, I am a Shiba Inu. Nickname: Shibus. My parents, Duvork and Mlukez go on vacation alot and I am not allowed to go. I have decided to head out on some adventures of my own. I would really like to see my home of Japan. This is my first time leaving home so I ask that noone keep me. I would like to keep traveling the world. If it is at all possible, could you please take some pictures of me while I am on my travels so I can show my parents.
