Vamanos! Let's go to Mexico! The goal for this bug is to be photographed at the Temple of the Inscriptions at Palenque, in Chiapas, Mexico. After that (or on the way) it can be photographed at other famous historical/ruins sites.
This is the sixth of eight travel bugs Santa brought Graham and Dean on Christmas 2011. The boys want to learn about famous places all over the world, and the Temple of the Inscriptions is the sixth to hit the road.
The Temple of the Inscriptions is the largest structure at Palenque, in southern Mexico. It was built in the 7th century as a funerary monument and has played a large role in the study of the Maya, due to the hieroglyphic inscriptions found throughout the site.
Graham (6) and Dean (3 1/2) are interested in learning about the world through maps, geography, cultures, measuring and math. Palenque is approximately 1,919 miles away from our home in upstate New York; it will be interesting to find out how many miles the TB needs to travel to achieve its goal!
Please do not keep this bug -- help it on its way, and DO post pictures of its travels on its way to the Big Apple!
Thank you -
MLSimons, father of Graham and Dean in upstate NY
