Its mission is to bring all who finds this to always have a guardian (Aumakua) when ever in the sea. Hawaiian legends say that if your ever lost at sea, the Honu and many other sea creatures will guide you to safety. The final mission is for it to be on the Big Island of Hawaii by December 2016.
The Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) or green turtle is large and common to the Hawaiian Islands. Its range extends throughout tropical and subtropical seas around the world, with two distinct populations in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
The green sea turtle posses a flattened body covered by a large, teardrop-shaped shell and a pair of large, paddle -like flippers. It is usually lightly colored, although parts of the shell can be almost black in the eastern Pacific. The adults commonly inhabit shallow lagoons, feeding mostly on various species of sea grass. If your ever on the Big Island of Hawaii and would like to see them, go to the South West side to a place called Punalulu Black Sands Beach. They are always frolicking on the rocks and sand.
