Current Goal

We would like to use this Travel Bug as a means of spreading the word about the possibilities for Geocaching in education!

As a Technology Coach for a Michigan school district, it is my job to expose and educate both students and teachers about the possibilities of technology in education, and GPS technology is something that I am eager to share.  Geocaching has great possibilities for lesson in math, science, geography, technology, and so much more.

I will be sharing the progress of this Travel Bug with my school district's students and staff periodically.  As such, with this Travel Bug, we ask a huge favor:

When logging this bug, could you please tell us how you think geocaching and/or GPS technology can used in education?

Having writer's block?  Here are a few prompts that might help you come up with a response:

  • What skills are taught by geocaching?
  • What subject areas (math, science, social studies, etc) could use geocaching, and how?
  • What have you learned from geocaching?
  • Can you tell us something neat about where you are from or where your found this trackable?

Thank you so much for your responses!

Geocaching is ideal for education. Geography, orienteering, puzzle solving, logic, space, international cooperation are just a few things you can learn while geocaching. Have fun and stay curious.

Picked this one up while taking the 7 year old Boblikesdeer out for a short hike. Being a Homeschooling family it was very appropriate that we came across it. I am sure Mrs Boblikesdeer will be able to come up with a nice lesson plan that will incorporate geocaching. We will move it along shortly.
