About This Item

AMTG ARK-MO 2006 GC 1

Mid size coin with heft. The front of this coin has excellent 3-D metal work. It shows a timber stand in extreme detail. The rim says "Missouri the show me state says' Arkansas Oklahoma Kansas" and "Geocache Missouri". The reverse has slight 3-D edge work. The medallion shows the outline of Missouri and is Blue enamel. It has a stylized "G" and shows route 66 cutting across the state. It says "ARK-MO Geocachers since August 30, 2003". The background metal texture is brushed and sets off the nice shine of the enamel. The detail is so nice that it even show three other roads in light blue. 2006. Excellent coin especially for 2006.

Info on the coin:  On January 26, 2006, the cacher and coin designer GEO*Trailblazer 1 from the US state of Missouri, who was active from August 2002 to the end of 2012, presented the first draft for a "Missouri Geocoin" in the geocaching forum.
The following discussion was mainly about the question of why three other countries are mentioned by name on the Geocoin.
The reason for this was GEO*Trailblazer 1's membership in the Tri States Geocachers Association. The Geocoin icon integrates another group, the "Ozark Mountain Geocachers".
This geocoin was intended to appeal to geocachers from a total of 4 states living in the region of the Ozark Plateau, a highland region in the central United States.

At the beginning of March 2006, 1000 antique gold geocoins came into circulation.
On one side of the 38 x 4 mm geocoin is the blue outline of the US state of Missouri, crossed by "Route 66". The geocaching "G", a star at the location of the capital Jefferson City and the year of the coin's release complete the depiction.

All around is "ARK-MO Geocachers" at the top and "Since August 30, 2003" at the bottom, probably the founding date of this cacher association. The other side of the geocoin shows a very nice 3D representation of a dense high forest. The popularly known title for the state can be read all around: "MISSOURI THE SHOW ME STATE SAY'S", underneath in the 3D image "GEOCACHE MISSOURI", below the names of the states of ARKANSAS OKLAHOMA KANSAS.

So many of my GCs have been muggled that I only release new ones as virtuals. If you do not approve of this, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks.  KR

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
