125K Acts of Aquinas

Travel bug attached to a wooden "coin".

This travel bug comes with a special mission.  It wants more than to travel, it wants to make a difference in this world.  Aquinas College, my alma mater, has service as one of it's core values.  They sent these coins out to us this year and we are to each do an act of service, an "Act of Aquinas", log it on their own tracking website and then pass the coin along.  Really seems to me that we are already passing-on trackables here.  I want my trackable to also be an act of service and would love to see my geocaching friends also show how they can make a difference with this trackable.  Please take this trackable with you on an act of kindness and post your story and picture...here and at Aquinas' site.  They have suggestions for service on their site.

I have already logged my act of service with Aquinas and in my heart.  I give time and energy to a local charity called 911 Gives Hope. (http://www.911giveshope.com).  I am now passing my coin to the next person and the next cache.  Please, try this coin's special mission out.  Remember, acts of service can be large or small.

This is not an ad or recruiting device for the college.  Please use it as an excuse to do something good for the world.  :-)

  • Search Google for "volunteer opportunities” in your city, state
  • Check Craig’s List for volunteer opportunities
  •  
  • Adopt a family for the holidays. Check with your local food pantry for names and needs.
  • Decorate an elderly neighbor's porch with lights and garland.
  • Bring cookies to a local firehouse.
  • Write thank you notes to the people you see daily that provide a service to your community: mail carriers, crossing guards, construction workers, etc.
  • Donate blood
  • Create a new baby basket with bottles, formula, diapers, receiving blankets, etc. and take it to a women's shelter.
  • Sort through your closet! Haven't worn it in six months? Donate it to a resale shop that uses proceeds for a good cause.
