The Indalo is a prehistoric magical symbol found in the cave of "Los Letreros" in Vélez Blanco, Spain.  That´s the village where I live.
It has been customary to paint the Indalo symbol on the front of houses and businesses to protect them from evil and is considered to be a god totem.  The indalo has a Levantine origin and dates back to 2500 BC. The pictograph was named in memory of Saint Indaletius, and means Indal eccius (Messenger of the Gods) in the Iberian language.
Legend has it that the Indalo holds and carries a rainbow in his hands (the arch over the head of the man).  But the guide of the cave says that it is a hunter and he holds his bow over his head.  (It is the only cave in the world a hunter is drawn in this way)  The Indalo has been adopted as the official symbol in the province of Almería, Spain.

El indalo es una figura de origen ancestral que se encuentra en la cueva de los Letreros, situada en el municipio de Vélez-Blanco (Almeria, Andalucía, España). Se trata de una pintura rupestre del Neolítico tardío o Edad del Cobre. Representa a una figura humana con los brazos extendidos y un arco sobre sus manos, si bien su significado no ha sido aún esclarecido de forma definitiva existiendo también varias teorías que apuntan a cierta divinidad en el dibujo. Actualmente es un símbolo de Almería.
